Challenge

The project aimed to digitize the “NUNC” product line of Ancona by creating a 3D product configurator and the whole product digitalization. The configurator was designed to enable end-users to interact with the products and explore all possible combinations of elements and materials with high fidelity.

Solution

The project consisted of two primary components:

Product Digitalization

The digitalization process involved:

  • 3D Modeling and Optimization: Creating or optimizing 3D models for the Modul product line to ensure high-quality visuals and performance.
  • Texturing and Preparation: Applying realistic textures to the models and preparing all variable elements for customization.
  • Element Combinations: Defining and structuring clear combinations of elements for each product (product sheets), which serve as the building blocks for the configurator.

Product Configurator Development
The configurator offered users a seamless experience to view and personalize products in all manufacturer-defined variants, including materials, colors, and combinations. Key functionalities included:

  • Real-time visualization of 3D models.
  • User interaction for selecting and combining product features to create an ideal product configuration.
  • Solution

Our approach included creating all product elements in 3D and implementing a specialized 3D configurator. This innovative tool allows users to customize and visualize products in three dimensions, providing a dynamic and engaging experience. The idea was to create a configurator that allows customers to select their favorite product combinations and increases transparency by displaying the final price associated with the chosen configuration.

With our methodology, we have successfully bridged the gap between complexity and simplicity, creating a user-centered solution that showcases our product’s versatility and enables a transparent and interactive customization process.

Implementation

  • Optimization and Texturing:
    The team worked on optimizing and texturing 36 distinct 3D models within the Modul product line.
  • Configurator Integration:
    Each 3D model was integrated into the product configurator, enabling users to interact with 36 configurations seamlessly.
  • Hosting and Support:
    The configurator was hosted on a robust platform, accompanied by a year-long technical support service to ensure smooth operation and customer satisfaction.

Result

The digitalization and configurator development successfully transformed the NUNC product line into an interactive and personalized shopping experience for Ancona’s customers. By providing a high-quality visualization and customization tool, NUNC was able to enhance user engagement and streamline the purchasing process.
